1. Present
Mrs S J Maddock in the chair, 10 members of the Parish Council, 15 members of the public.
Apologies for absence received from Mr D R Peake and Mr L Massey.
2. Minutes
The minutes of the 2000 Annual Parish Meeting were read approved and signed as an accurate record.
3. Financial Report
The Clerk presented a brief report on the Council’s finances (please click here to view the complete report).
4. Chairman’s Report
The Chairman read a report on the last Council year and on items for the future (please click here to view the complete report).
5. Questions
The Chairman opened the meeting for questions and questions were raised on the following issues:
Good Companions site and potential parking problems on Parkway when construction work in progress and in the longer term
Recycling bins and their siting
House to house collections and the need for this to be better organised
Library development
6. Planting and sponsorship
The Chairman and Clerk reported that a lot of the fine floral displays in the towns of Congleton Borough were provided as a result of sponsorship and the Parish Council would like to encourage similar effort in Holmes Chapel. Mrs Dorothy Currie had been appointed by the Council to pursue this policy and the Community Trust, other local organisations and local industry would be encouraged to assist. Brief discussion took place and it was agreed that the matter should be discussed informally after the meeting and on future occasions.
The formal business of the meeting closed at 8.30 p.m.
Thereafter wine and cheese was served to the members and public present. Also a presentation was made to the Clerk of the Council from members to mark the completion of 30 years service in the year 2000.
