MINUTES OF THE FINANCE COMMITTEE
Thursday 09 August 2001 at 7.30 p.m.


1. Attendance

3. Matters arising
1. Accounts and standing orders – Clerk reported on progress and difficulties with accounts programme which he had to resolve. Agreed Clerk and ACR to liase before next meeting
2. Byley gas plant – Members invited to attend meeting of Cranage PC on 15-08-01 for discussion with Officer of CCC Planning and thereafter other issues including Finance. IMM to report back.

4. Financial report
Clerk presented financial report and arising therefrom:
 Confirm to Rotary that £500 donation to be made to Christmas lights
 Noted work on village centre improvements programmed to start on 20-08-01
 Commitments to village centre and playing fields meant little scope for variation of budget and additional commitments
 Cost of computer should be reviewed for next year

5. Requests for financial contributions
1. Resolved that as a matter of general principle the Council should not support the following, although the projects were worthy and may be supported by individual members:
 Hermitage School project
 Middlewich Road School project (IMM and JB declared an interest in this project)
 Michael Gordon – drama course
2. Church yard extension – the Council could be recommended to divert budget figure of £7,000 to land purchase if satisfied that funds available to carry out project fully to completion of all work (ACR declared an interest in this matter)
3. Borough Sports Development Officer – defer to budget meetings in December / January and ask for further information.

6. Accounts for payment
Clerk’s salary and tax – June / July
Computer repairs
Civic service expenses
