6. 2003/4 budget

Committee reviewed budget figures and in particular:

  1. Cranage Playing Fields: Agreed opportunity should not be lost to progress river crossing so land purchase essential. If necessary budget could proceed. Clerk to continue to arrange Joint Committee with Cranage PC
  2. Street lighting Chester Road to Berwick Court footpath - Recommendation from T&P to install new lamp which would be footway lighting and PC responsibility. Agreed contingency money could be used
  3. Village Centre improvements – Concern expressed about lack of progress when funds available in budget. Clerk to press CBC for progress before next Council
  4. CAD – Kinderton – RCP and Clerk reported on joint meetings and need to raise some initial funds to obtain expert’s report. Suggestion that the group needed to raise initial £6000. Resolved committee recommend initial contribution up to £2000 depending on other contributions

RCP reported that he would be reviewing report obtained by Sproston group

8. Quality Parish Council Scheme

Clerk reported on information received from Deputy PM’s office and need to consider in detail.

Some Council Clerks expressing concern about their ability to acquire competency qualification because of time factor

9. Members’ items

  1. Road signs to railway compound at Goostrey: Clerk had asked CBC to consider two issues:

  • Position and height of some signs
  • Routing of all traffic through HC mini roundabouts

  1. Knutsford Road planning appeal – RCP reported on need for traffic expert
  2. Skatepark Congleton – RCP reported on rumours of problems – Clerk to raise with police
